How to organize and reorder PDF pages
Organising a PDF lets you rearrange, rotate or delete individual pages until the document reads exactly the way you want. Scanned files in particular often arrive with pages out of order, upside down, or with a blank sheet that crept in from the feeder. Rather than re-scanning everything, you fix the order visually in seconds.
Our editor shows every page as a thumbnail you can drag, turn or remove, then rebuilds a clean PDF from your arrangement.
It also replaces a whole family of one-off fixes. Instead of hunting for separate delete, rotate and move commands in a desktop editor, you do everything in one visual pass: the thumbnails update as you work, so the grid you see on screen is exactly the document you download.
Step by step
- Open the Organize PDF tool and upload your document.
- Wait for the page thumbnails to appear in the visual editor.
- Drag pages into the order you want, rotate any that are sideways, and delete the ones you no longer need.
- Review the layout to confirm everything is correct.
- Save and download your reorganised PDF.

Why use this tool
A well-ordered document is more professional and far easier to read. Reviewers, clients and colleagues judge a file partly by its presentation, and a stray blank page or an inverted scan undermines an otherwise careful piece of work.
Editing pages visually also avoids the errors that creep in when you guess page numbers blindly. Seeing each thumbnail means you move the right page the first time, with no trial and error.
It is the quickest way to fix the small messes that scanning and merging create: dropping the duplicate cover page, flipping a sheet that fed in upside down, moving an appendix to the end, or pulling an internal note out before you send a contract. Everything happens on thumbnails, so you always see exactly what you are moving, and the original file on your computer is left untouched.
Organising is usually the last step before a document goes out, and it combines well with the rest of the toolbox: merge several files first if pages need to come from different sources, fix the order and orientation here, then add page numbers so the printed sequence matches the new arrangement. If you only need to pull a few pages out rather than rearrange them, Split PDF is the quicker tool.

The file you upload is processed only to apply your changes and is removed from our servers automatically within minutes. We never retain a copy of your document or its pages.
Troubleshooting: common problems and fixes
- The thumbnails take a long time to appear. — Very image-heavy scans render more slowly. Wait for the previews to finish, or compress the PDF first — a lighter file loads noticeably faster.
- I deleted a page by mistake. — Nothing is final until you save: re-upload the file and start again, or simply do not download the result. The document on your computer is untouched.
- I need to insert pages from another document. — Combine the two files first with Merge PDF, then open the merged result here and drag the new pages into position.
- A rotated page still shows sideways in my viewer. — Make sure you opened the downloaded copy rather than the original. The new orientation is written into the saved file only, and the source document is left as it was.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rotate just one page?
Yes. In the visual editor you can rotate any single page without affecting the others.
Will reordering change the page content?
No. Only the sequence and orientation change; the text and images on each page stay exactly as they were.
Can I delete pages and add new ones?
You can remove any page you do not need and reorder the rest. To bring in pages from another file, merge the two documents first, then organise them together here.
Is there a limit to how many pages I can reorder?
You can organise the pages of any PDF up to the free-plan size of 20 MB; larger documents are supported on easyPDF PRO.
Will my changes be permanent in the saved file?
Yes. Unlike rotating a page in a viewer, the new order and orientation are written into the downloaded PDF, so they stay fixed everywhere it is opened or printed.
Do I need to install software?
No. The visual page organiser runs entirely in your browser, with nothing to download and no account required.
Can I duplicate a page?
Not directly in the organiser. Extract the page with Split PDF, then merge it back into the document; once merged, you can position the copy anywhere here.
Does reordering work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scans behave exactly like digital pages: each one appears as a thumbnail you can move, rotate or delete, which is precisely how out-of-order scans are usually fixed.
