Everything you might want to know before using the tools

Is easyPDF really free?

Yes. The core tools — compress, merge, split, convert, rotate, watermark, protect and unlock — are free to use, with no account and no watermark added to your files. The free service is supported by advertising. If you need higher limits, batch processing, an API or an ad-free experience, easyPDF PRO is the paid option.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?

No. easyPDF runs entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to download or install, and you do not need to register or sign in to use the free tools.

What happens to my files? Are they private?

Your file is uploaded over an encrypted HTTPS connection only to perform the operation you ask for. Once the result is ready, both the uploaded file and the result are deleted automatically. We do not read, index, store long-term, sell or share your documents. See our Security and Privacy & Cookies pages for full detail.

What is the maximum file size?

On the free plan you can process files up to 20 MB each. With easyPDF PRO the limit rises to 1 GB, which is useful for high-resolution scans and large reports.

Which file formats are supported?

The PDF tools work with standard PDF files. The conversion tools also accept common image formats such as JPG and PNG when creating a PDF, and can export PDF pages back to images. If a file fails to open, check that it is not corrupted and that it is genuinely in the expected format.

Will compressing a PDF ruin its quality?

Compression reduces file size mainly by re-encoding images inside the document. For most everyday documents the difference is barely noticeable on screen. If you need to keep maximum quality — for printing, for example — choose a lighter compression level. Our guide to compressing a PDF explains the trade-off.

Can I merge more than two files at once?

Yes. The merge tool lets you add several PDFs and arrange their order before combining them into a single document. See the merge guide for the steps.

I forgot my PDF password. Can you recover it?

No. The “unlock” tool removes a password only when you already know it and enter it yourself. We cannot bypass, reset or recover a password you have forgotten — that protection exists precisely to keep documents private. See the protect & unlock guide.

Does easyPDF work on mobile?

Yes. Because it runs in the browser, easyPDF works on phones and tablets as well as desktop computers. On a small screen the side advertising rails are hidden so the tools stay easy to use.

Why do I see a cookie banner?

The free service shows advertising to cover its costs. Advertising and analytics cookies are only loaded after you make your choice in the consent message. If you decline, the tools keep working without those cookies. You can change your choice at any time through the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of the home page.

The site is in the wrong language — can I change it?

easyPDF detects your browser language automatically and supports all 24 official EU languages. You can switch language manually using the selector in the footer, and your choice is remembered for next time.
