How to merge PDF files
Merging means combining two or more PDFs into a single file. It is one of the most useful PDF operations: gather the pages of a contract, assemble a report from several sources, or join scanned pages that arrived as separate files. This guide shows how to merge PDFs for free and keep the pages in exactly the order you want.
When to merge
- Combining a cover letter, CV and certificates into one application.
- Joining chapters or sections that were exported separately.
- Putting scanned receipts or invoices into a single document for accounting.
Steps
- Open the Merge PDF tool from the home page.
- Add the files you want to combine — you can select several at once, or add them one by one.
- Arrange them in the order you want them to appear in the final document.
- Click Process to merge the files.
- Download the single combined PDF.
Tips
- Order matters. Double-check the sequence before processing — the merged file follows the order you set.
- Only need some pages from a file? Use Split PDF first to pull out the pages you want, then merge them.
- Large set of files? Combining many big scans can push you over the 20 MB free limit; compress them first, or use easyPDF PRO.
Is it safe?
All files are uploaded over an encrypted connection and deleted automatically after the merge completes. We do not store or read your documents — see the Security page.
